Gather your family and friends for a guided safari through our sweeping wildlife preserve, home to iconic species and wide-open Texas landscapes. From meaningful moments to once-in-a-lifetime encounters, our private tours create space for connection, discovery, and memories that last well beyond the drive.

Safari Tour

  • Enjoy a guided Safari Tour through our 7.2-mile scenic wildlife preserve in an open-air vehicle. Along the way, learn about the remarkable species that call Fossil Rim home and the conservation efforts that support them. This experience is suitable for guests of all ages and abilities and lasts approximately two hours, including a 15-minute stop at the Overlook.
  • Private Safari Tours are designed for groups of up to 20 guests, ages 3 and up. Children under 3 are welcome and must sit on a lap while riding in tour vehicles.

Behind-The-Scenes Tour

  • Explore Fossil Rim beyond the public route on a three-hour guided adventure through the Gosdin Scenic Drive and our restricted Intensive Management Area (IMA). Guests gain rare insight into endangered species conservation, animal nutrition, enrichment, and husbandry, with a special look at our white rhino facilities. Tour routes may vary to support animal care needs and offer fresh, ever-evolving experiences.
  • All guests MUST be at least 8 years old. Children under 8 cannot join the tour, and we are unable to offer refunds in this case.
  • Tours are in open-air vehicles. Dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes (mandatory; Croc’s are not permitted).
  • This experience includes areas not normally accessible to the public and is not ADA-accessible at this time.
  • For parties larger than 16 guests, please email info@fossilrim.org or call 254-898-4282 for group rates.
  • All requests must be made at least two weeks in advance of your preferred tour date.
  • Please at least arrive 15 minutes before the tour begins.
  • Private Tours may be rescheduled once at no charge if done at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours in advance or payment will be forfeited.
  • Each individual will receive one portion of animal feed.
  • Re-sealable bottled beverages are allowed, no glass containers.
  • No pets are allowed on property.
