This holiday season, we’re gearing up to gift our cheetahs a home renovation, and we need your help! As one of the top cheetah conservation organizations in the US, Fossil Rim is uniquely aware of the needs of these special cats. As part of our proactive approach to animal welfare and facility upkeep, we are always striving to improve. This upgrade will replace aging materials, expand staff accessibility, enrichment areas and more. With your help, we can continue to provide safe, interesting habitats for our cheetahs, and increase our staff’s efficiency when caring for them.
The Goal
This Giving Tuesday, we want to raise $200,000 to go directly towards elective cheetah facility updates within our Intensive Management Area. Cheetahs aren’t natural climbers, but enjoy moving to higher ground to survey the land around them. This has led to natural wear and tear within their enclosures. These upgrades will include the replacement of fencing, shelter materials and substrate with new, more durable materials.
This renovation will also improve staff accessibility, safety and workflow efficiency. With over 20 individual cheetahs each in need of care and attention, streamlining care is an important task. Upgrades will also provide the cats with enhanced welfare and behavioral enrichment opportunities, which in turn will help them continue to stay happy and healthy.
