Our Facebook Live FREd Talks (Fossil Rim Education Talks) are interactive, educational, and always entertaining. With a different theme each month, you will be sure to find ones that are just right for you. If you can’t watch the Talk at its scheduled time, we will also have it recorded for later viewing on our Facebook page.

When: Live at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday and Thursday of each month 

T.W.A.N.G. [FR]om Anywhere

From the comfort of your computer(s), discover the nature of Fossil Rim . . . anywhere! T.W.A.N.G. FRom Anywhere is designed as a virtual education program taught by Fossil Rim’s Education Department. You and yours can be all together or watching from individual homes. Don’t worry – it is still interactive and offers live views of the animals and the park. We know that you would love to be at Fossil Rim, but this is the next best thing.

Who:  Anyone – groups, families, individuals, friends, etc.
Time:  Weekdays & Saturdays 10-11 a.m.; Sundays 2-3 p.m.

Natural Class
With school back in session, how about learning from a place with Natural Class? During this T.W.A.N.G. FRom Anywhere, you and yours will learn about Fossil Rim’s role as a conservation organization as you virtually visit “the teacher’s lounge” and hear about the inner workings of the Center. We will also teach you how to have Natural Class at home with tips on exploring and protecting nature.  Register Now

Now You See Me, Now You Don’t
The season of chills and thrills is upon us, but nature shouldn’t be one of the things that frightens you. Join us for a T.W.A.N.G. FRom Anywhere that teaches you the science of standing out or blending in, pursuing the hider or evading the seeker, and feeling scared or being prepared. After this class, being outside will be a treat while you put your new found camouflage skills to good use.  Register Now

Thanksgiving is a time for friends, family . . . and tons of eating. Humans aren’t the only ones bulking up for the winter. Explore the diverse world of food webs - predator vs. prey, skeletal adaptations, specialized diets, and so much more. Of course, no exploration of diets would be complete without a look into the diets of the animals that call Fossil Rim home while watching them from the comfort of your computer . . . next to the fridge full of snacks.  Register Now

Plains, Cranes, And . . . Wildebeests!
The holidays – a time of peace on earth mixed with the stress of travelling. Can you imagine traveling without any modern amenities? Well, try being one of the many species that travels long distances. Celebrate the holidays, by learning about how and why animals migrate while meeting our best migrators. Environmentor Seminars - FREE!

Do you love being in nature? Are you concerned about environmental issues? Have you been wanting to pass your knowledge and excitement on to others, but you weren’t sure how? Learn to be an environmental education mentor at our Environmentor Seminars.

These seminars are offered for two types of mentors – formal and informal. The formal environmentor is a person who will be utilizing what they learned in their professional roles –teachers, instructors, trainers, etc. The informal environmentor is a person who will be utilizing what they learned in their personal roles – parent, grandparent, scout leader, older sibling, etc.

Who:  Anyone age 13 or older who would like to be an environmental mentor to others.
What:  Attend two virtual, interactive one-hour seminars. Fossil Rim’s environmental educators will instruct the group regarding ways in which you can most effectively teach others about the natural world. The seminars will include activities, experiments, nature exploration, up-close looks at Fossil Rim species, and Q & A time to help personalize the experience for your intended audience.
Time:  3:30-4:30 p.m.

Prerequisites:  You will need to watch our two 20-minute FREd (Fossil Rim Education) Talks on Facebook Live that are offered on the same month as your seminar. If you aren’t able to watch live, we will also have it recorded for later viewing on our Facebook page.
Fee:  Free! All we ask is that you help others care for the environment. You will need to register below so that we can provide more detailed information.

Note:  You are welcome to attend every month since they each have a different focus.


Back To School, Naturally
With back to school meaning so many different things in 2020, we know everyone is a bit overwhelmed. We would like to take some of the stress away by helping with what we know best – environmental education. Since people are using the outdoors as a learning space more and more, this seminar will focus on how to facilitate outdoor learning, tips and strategies for introducing people to nature, and encouraging environmental literacy.  Register Now

Hiding In Plain Sight
October is always associated with chills and thrills, so we want to help you learn how to make sure that ecophobia isn’t one of those fears. During this seminar, we will explore how to address the root of why people are afraid of going into nature and how to use science to ease their concerns. You’ll discover the season’s myths and lore that can be changed from a chill into a thrill for your group.  Register Now

The ‘Vore Family Thanksgiving
Family Thanksgiving can be unpredictable, but can you imagine the unpredictability of mixing the ‘vore families - the carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. Join us for a seminar with real bite as you learn how to mix social emotional learning with science by building an appreciation of biodiversity through the study of the different ‘vore adaptations. You will gain new skills for mentoring your group’s respect of the natural world and each other through reinforcing positive expressions of the unique differences found among species.  Register Now

If any program’s capacity is less than one-third full 24 hours before the program date, Fossil Rim may have to cancel the program.
