Our guests will enjoy the peace and tranquility of Mother Nature, as they are immersed amongst more than 50 species of wildlife, including some endangered exotic animals. Come discover how our staff works each day toward the conservation of these beautiful creatures.

A wall of glass wraps around the front of the building, opening onto a wooden and cobblestone deck that overlooks a popular wildlife grazing area.

Foothills Safari CabiNs
Surrounded by animals
Our Foothills Safari Camp is located a half-mile further inside Fossil Rim from The Lodge. The camp entails a two-acre fenced enclosure overlooking one of Fossil Rim’s most popular wildlife watering holes where an ever-changing variety of animals – even more diverse than at The Lodge – can be observed.
An abundance of brilliant stars and constellations can be seen at night. Stroll over to the observation deck and trade stories of the day with your fellow travelers. Inside our glass-walled pavilion, you can utilize Wi-Fi while you gaze across the adjacent pasture where herds congregate and roam daily.
The pavilion is an excellent venue to host all of your events, including weddings, conferences, birthday parties or group gatherings. Sit back, relax and allow our staff to help plan and cater all of your event needs.
Each of the seven cabins is custom-designed and fitted with two twin beds, fresh linens, electrical power outlets, bathrooms with showers, ceiling fans and central heat and air. All cabins have an extra twin bed in case it is needed, plus a front porch with chairs facing the watering hole. Cabins each have adjacent picnic tables. MORNING SAFARI GUIDED TOUR
Not exactly “lodging,” but an overnight stay is required for this tour…
The Morning Safari Guided Tour may just be the best tour of the day at Fossil Rim. This tour is reserved for our Lodge and Foothills Safari Camp overnight guests, and it leaves at 8:30 a.m. from the Pavilion after breakfast is served. Your advantage of an early morning departure will have you out and about prior to most other guests arriving for the day and before some of the animals have been fed. Having the brunch wagon drive through is a delight for the animals and you may well get mobbed when they are looking for a handout.
Your guide will entertain and inform you, as well as do the driving so you don’t have to. Don’t miss out – take advantage of this delightful morning tour.
For an additional charge, your Morning Safari Tour can be upgraded to go behind the scenes on a tour of the Jim Jackson Intensive Management Area. There, you will visit our wolf, black rhino and cheetah habitats, plus get a bird’s eye view of our Attwater’s prairie chicken breeding facility. The tour cost is $45.95 for a Behind-the-Scenes Morning Safari Tour and $30.95 for a standard Morning Safari Tour.
If you have questions or would like to purchase a tour, please call us at 254.897.2960.
