Enjoy Rustic Luxury

The Lodge was the original “ranch house” for the property and – with a few modifications – now serves as a bed and breakfast. A cathedral-style living room with a massive stone fireplace and walls of glass opens onto a stone veranda overlooking a popular wildlife feeding area. Herds of addax, sable, gemsbok, waterbuck and deer can often be seen making their daily migration around the Lodge and Foothills Safari Camp pastures, plus you’ll get an up-close look at wild turkeys.

The Peregrine Room

Perched on the top floor of The Lodge and accessible by a winding staircase, The Peregrine Room is our most secluded offering. It is also our largest room and features a king bed, fireplace and its own Jacuzzi bath with a separate shower. You may bring your group of four people (maximum) to enjoy these auspicious surroundings with plenty of room for sleeping bags for the kids.

This is The Attwater Room in The Lodge.

The Attwater Room

Tucked away in the back corner of the main floor, this room features a king bed and private bath with copper sink and beautiful blue tile countertop. Through the patio doors is your secluded patio with a table and chairs for your convenience. You can park within feet of the patio door. This room has a four-person maximum.

Foothills Safari CabiNs

Surrounded by animals

Our Foothills Safari Camp is located a half-mile further inside Fossil Rim from The Lodge. The camp entails a two-acre fenced enclosure overlooking one of Fossil Rim’s most popular wildlife watering holes where an ever-changing variety of animals including all those seen near The Lodge, plus greater sandhill cranes, can be observed.

Custom-designed quarters

Each of the seven cabins is custom-designed and fitted with two twin beds, fresh linens, private bath, ceiling fans and central heat and air. Please bring your own flashlight in case you need to leave your cabin after dark. Not exactly “lodging,” but an overnight stay is required for this tour…
The Morning Safari Guided Tour may just be the best tour of the day at Fossil Rim. This tour is reserved for our Lodge and Foothills Safari Camp overnight guests, and it leaves at 8:30 a.m. from the Pavilion after breakfast is served. Your advantage of an early morning departure will have you out and about prior to most other guests arriving for the day and before some of the animals have been fed. Having the brunch wagon drive through is a delight for the animals and you may well get mobbed when they are looking for a handout.

Your guide will entertain and inform you, as well as do the driving so you don’t have to. Don’t miss out – take advantage of this delightful morning tour.

For an additional charge, your Morning Safari Tour can be upgraded to go behind the scenes on a tour of the Jim Jackson Intensive Management Area. There, you will visit our wolf, black rhino and cheetah habitats, plus get a bird’s eye view of our Attwater’s prairie chicken breeding facility. The tour cost is $45.95 for a Behind-the-Scenes Morning Safari Tour and $30.95 for a standard Morning Safari Tour.
