Enjoy Rustic Tranquility
The Lodge was built in the early 1980s as the home for original Fossil Rim owner Tom Mantzel. Through the years, it has been updated to provide bed-and-breakfast-style accommodations. Several common areas are available for guest use, including the newly renovated Lounge, Great Room, Balcony, and shared Kitchen.
Located on the first floor of The Lodge, our Lounge is available only to Lodge guests. It provides an intimate setting to relax and enjoy the company of friends new and old. A variety of comfortable seating options are available for you to unwind, enjoy a drink, or just spend quality time with loved ones. A smart TV, pool table, and various board games are also available for your entertainment.
The Great Room
Occupying the majority of common space on the second floor is the Great Room. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer ample sunlight and a picturesque view of the surrounding hills. This is a great space to relax, read a book from our library, or play a board game.
Just a step through the sliding glass door of the Great Room brings you onto the Balcony. This wooden and cobblestone deck wraps around the front of The Lodge, overlooking some of the lovely ridges and hills this region is famous for. You may also catch a glimpse of some of our exotic and native wildlife making their daily pasture migrations. Patio seating is available for you to sit and watch the sunrise while you enjoy your morning coffee.
All guests at The Lodge have access to some of the Kitchen facilities. At this time, guests are welcome to use the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker if they so desire.

Foothills Safari Camp
Surrounded By Animals
Our Foothills Safari Camp is located a half-mile further inside Fossil Rim down a gravel road from The Lodge. The two-acre camp is secured by fencing and overlooks one of Fossil Rim’s most popular wildlife watering holes where an ever-changing array of animals – both exotic and native – can be observed.
Inside the fencing, there is an abundance of space to roam and various seating areas to relax and enjoy nature. Due to the camp's position among the rolling hills, it allows for an abundance of brilliant stars and constellations to be seen at night. We can also provide outdoor games to enjoy during pleasant weather conditions.
Inside the glass-walled pavilion, you can utilize Wi-Fi while you gaze across the adjacent pasture where herds congregate and roam daily. Outdoor seating is available for all Safari Camp guests to use for picnics or evening meals.
The pavilion is an excellent venue to host all of your events, including weddings, conferences, birthday parties, or group gatherings.
All seven cabins are equipped with two twin beds, fresh linens, bathrooms with showers, central heat and air conditioning, plus they offer a front porch with chairs facing the watering hole. With the preservation of the beautiful night sky in mind, we advise you to bring a flashlight or similar device in case you are outside of the cabin after dark.
Due to cabin size, the maximum number of guests that can stay in each cabin is three.
All room prices are based on double occupancy, and for any extra guests age three or older there will be additional charges. This charge covers the cabin stay, breakfast, and a ticket to the 7.2-mile Gosdin Scenic Drive in your own vehicle.
Only guests who stay at The Lodge may use its amenities. If you stay at Safari Camp, be sure to ask about your game options during check-in.
