Fossil Rim Wildlife Center doesn’t have Tigers on most days, but that changed on Aug. 8.
The varsity Glen Rose Lady Tiger volleyball team was visiting to take their team pictures, considering their team theme this year is “wild and free.” Glen Rose High School is just a few miles down the road from Fossil Rim.
“I knew we wanted to use Fossil Rim this year as the location for our photos,” said head coach Sandy Langford. “Our coaching staff was actually driving when we put our heads together and came up with the idea.”
She felt fortunate to have the opportunity.
“Fossil Rim went above and beyond, giving these girls an experience they will remember forever,” Langford said. “(Marketing Director) Warren (Lewis) was so awesome and had everything ready and planned out. It is such an amazing place to have in our hometown.”
Much is expected from the Lady Tigers this season, as Glen Rose opened the year ranked No. 4 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association State Volleyball 4A Poll.
“Yes, we are ranked and that is exciting, but none of that is relevant this early in the season,” Langford said. “We have things to work on, fix, and change before we can think about being that good.”
Glen Rose returns three all-state players including Logan Smith, Ally Andress and Libby Hinton. Upperclassmen include those three, as well as Emma Bozarth, Laiken McAnear, Mallory Rogers and Bryanna Lytle.
“We are always happy to support our local community, and that definitely includes Glen Rose High School,” Lewis said. “It’s a great school. Our education department works with them on various projects, and we definitely wanted to accommodate the volleyball team’s wishes for their team photos.”
