Is there a hot topic to share or is it just compost (which can reach 140 degrees during rapid decomposition)? Fossil Rim is grateful to receive an honorable mention from STAR (State of Texas Alliance for Recycling) for the 2020 Innovative Organics Diversion Award. That is hot news, after all!
A program to divert organic material from the landfill was initiated by Caitlin Pyle, Fossil Rim’s previous natural resources manager. Pyle started a food scraps collection program with Glen Rose ISD in conjunction with upgrading the compost facility at Fossil Rim.
To “Pyle” on some more news, Vanessa Hays served as natural resources specialist before recently taking the reins as natural resources manager! Hays has done extensive work growing and improving the compost facility and diverting organic material away from the landfill.
Hays has future plans to build upon the program that Pyle started. They are both very thankful for this honorable mention and will continue to work for the benefit of Texas recycling.
