TASTE OF THE CAMINO
April 26-28, 2019
High Hope Ranch - Glen Rose, TX
All-Inclusive Weekend Package $350
Whether you are training, researching or want to reminisce about Spain's renowned Camino de Santiago, you will be right at home during our Taste of the Camino Weekend.
Spend a weekend in the northern reaches of the Texas Hill Country to spur nostalgia of your Camino de Santiago experience, or discover what the event is about for the first time during your two-night stay!
You are in for a weekend of fun, feeling, nature, and sharing the experience of walking the Camino de Santiago, as seen in the movie The Way. As a weekend “peregrino”, you will get to meet others who have been on the Camino and are eager to share their experience.
This is a chance to see how it might feel to grab your backpack and travel afoot along the Camino by hiking the private trails on High Hope Ranch. During our group dinners, you’ll hear stories and get to ask questions about other people’s adventures along the Camino.
Taste of the Camino is limited to 30 people and by reservation only. Accommodations will be similar to the sleeping spaces for peregrinos on the Camino – hostels called “albergues” or “refugios”. Many albergues on the Camino are more than 1,000 years old and each may have been a convent, hospital, or monastery that housed up to 80 pilgrims per room.
Our albergues are more remote and private! Upgrades are also available in our three Casas Locales with private rooms and/or futons for an extra charge.
“Hospitalarios” (hosts at the albergues and volunteers along the Camino) will make your stay and meals extra special. The package price includes two evening pilgrims’ meals, two trail breakfasts, and two Camino-style, grab-and-go lunches. We will have special rest stops set up while you are hiking.
Prices start at $350 per person. Participants will receive a registration packet with more information!
Friday sign-in begins at 3 p.m. for those who can get away from the city early and are ready to hike. Registration location will move to the dinner-and-Friday-albergue site at 5:30 pm.
The closing ceremony will be Sunday at approximately 1 p.m., with a 20-minute walk from the closing site back to the cars. Maps with alternate routes, planning notes and other information will be provided. Join us for a Buen Camino!
