Discover a divine partnership for Fossil Rim

Since Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and D’Vine Wine of Granbury have joined forces, it is proving to be a fine pairing.

They came together in July 2014.

“(Development Coordinator) Lynn Rogers and Susan Foster, who was with Fossil Rim at the time, came over to visit with us and discuss that they were looking for a Fossil Rim wine,” said D’Vine Wine Owner Diane Hedges, who shares the business with Tony Hedges and Joshua Winters. “We felt like this could be a great partnership, so we moved forward and created three wines – a white, a red and a blush.”

Fossil Rim Development Coordinator Lynn Rogers, Lodging Director Bill Brown and D’Vine Wine Co-Owner Diane Hedges present the three varieties of Fossil Rim Wine at an event for Fossil Rim staff June 17.

First, there is Giraffe White.

“It’s an unoaked Pinot Grigio,” Diane said. “It’s a light, dry wine with notes of citrus and pear and is great with chicken, as a starter for a meal with appetizers, or just by itself.”

Next, Hedges mentioned Rhino Red.

“It’s a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon,” she said. “This medium-dry wine has a nice smooth finish and is popular. This wine pairs well with meat, Italian food and more.”

Last, but certainly not least, is Zebra Blush.

“That one is a raspberry white merlot,” Diane said. “That sweet blush is perfect for summer, sitting by the pool or with a meal. It’s probably the best selling of the three; it’s very popular. These three varieties made the most sense for Fossil Rim Wine.”

Although Fossil Rim Wine has reached its two-year anniversary, the partners are hopeful it reaches new heights.

“June 17 marked our first staff event centered on Fossil Rim Wine, and we just wanted to celebrate our continuing partnership,” Rogers said. “We invited all of our staff to The Lodge to show we appreciate them and want them to be able to comment on the wine if they are asked by our visitors or in the community.”

Both parties make an effort to create awareness of the other.

“We want to make sure our guests at D’Vine Wine are aware of Fossil Rim and the great experience they could have there,” Diane said. “Hopefully, the people of Fossil Rim make their visitors aware of us as well. That’s a perfect partnership.”

This type of association is not something D’Vine Wine does often. In fact, there is a first time for everything.

“This is our only partnership like this,” Diane said. “We think Fossil Rim is a special, unique place. If we were going to do something like this, Fossil Rim was the partner for us.”

Each bottle of Fossil Rim Wine costs $20, and with every single purchase D’Vine Wine donates $5 to Fossil Rim. The wine can be purchased online (dvinewinegranbury.com), by phone (817.573.7200) or in person at D’Vine Wine (107 E. Bridge Street in Granbury).

“Support Fossil Rim and have a great bottle of wine at the same time,” Diane said. “What could be better?”
