Sit Back, Enjoy the Ride – Let Us Show You Around!

What’s the best way to see Fossil Rim? With a tour, that’s how! This is our most fun way yet to get close to the animals and learn about what is being done to keep the numerous endangered species from becoming extinct. A staff of professional safari guides will lead you through an exciting experience. The only requirement to participate is a spirit of adventure.

Please note: All tours require reservations at least three days in advanced.

Please become familiar with our booking and general information by clicking here or scrolling to the bottom of this page.

Consider Taking One Of These

For the majority of our tours, such as our Behind-the-Scenes tour or our Family tour, you will meet your guide and board* one of our open air safari vehicles to set out on an adventure like you would expect only when visiting Africa. Our animals are used to our vehicles and know that feed is forthcoming; this provides your best chance for close-up photographs and viewing experiences.

If you are one of our guests who is genuinely interested in asking questions, then you have your own guide who can fill you in with, not only the right answer, but also with fascinating stories about the animals and happenings of Fossil Rim. For parents wanting to introduce their children to large herds in open spaces then you can watch the kids’ reactions and become a participant in your child’s understanding, not just the driver.

Restrooms are located at the Admissions Building and the Overlook only, please take this into consideration before you start your tour.

* NOTE: Tours board from different locations depending on the tour and if it's a holiday or not. When making your reservation please verify your boarding location.

How 'Bout Something Special?

Even more in-depth questions can be answered fully on the Feeding tour where you accompany an Animal Care employee on their morning rounds. For the ultimate in immersion you will want to consider our Adventure tour that provides you with an all day adventure where you get an in-depth picture of the amazing animals and exciting conservation work that goes on here at Fossil Rim.

All guided tours are intended to be an "edutaining" learning experience for the guests, leaving them with a better understanding of nature and wildlife, a renewed appreciation for its preservation and conservation, and the work that Fossil Rim Wildlife Center does in this regard. If you have a large number of people to accommodate then we have Group tours for almost any size group you put together. Click here for pricing information.

Check The Calendar

We also offer tours that are scheduled approximately once a month, please check our Calendar for dates.

Our guided Ride the Rim event tour offers an opportunity for you to ride your bike and visit a special restricted area of the park which houses some of our endangered animals during your ride. Ride the Rim tours are offered in Family, Moonlight, Beginner's and Experienced ride formats.

For the night-owls out there we offer our Discovery After Dark tour that takes you on a guided after-dark adventure featuring both exotic and native nocturnal wildlife.

Eat and Ride In Style

How about a mighty fine meal and then a tour? Our Sunset Safari Dinner and Tour is one possibility. This tour is offered a couple of ways, like a barbeque in your backyard, IF your backyard is Fossil Rim, or as a three-course dinner served in our glassed-in Pavillion.

Sweet on someone? Try our Sweetheart Safari Dinner and Tour where you hunt down the object of your affec... not really, but you can impress them with a three-course meal, live music and then an evening tour.

Close out the year with our Holiday Around the Rim Sunset Safari Dinner and Tour. It involves cookies, hot chocolate, appetizers, champagne, shopping, live music, exotic animals and THEN a wonderful holiday meal.

Event and Dinner tours are scheduled on our Calendar page, please check to verify dates before you leave. All Event and Dinner tours begin and end at the Foothills Safari Camp with the exception of Discovery After Dark that leaves from and returns to the Eco Center.

Each safari will open new doors of adventure that you will want to explore again and again.
